This conservative editorial expresses the frustration of the author as he observes recent election results in Latin America. The author argues that the election of socialist governments in countries such as Venezuela and Brazil, with enormous natural resources and capital, will strengthen the communist cause internationally, far beyond its promotion by an underdeveloped country such as Russia was in 1917. Furthermore, the author argues that as a result, Columbia will be caught unawares in a political trap from which it will not be able to escape.
